Mumbai, January 23, 2024: The excitement is building as the Mumbai Festival 2024 gears up to host the inaugural StartUp Mumbai Challenge on January 25 at the iconic Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). This dynamic addition to the festival, in collaboration with Turbostart, a global player in the startup ecosystem, aims to cement Mumbai’s identity by promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.
The “Forever Planet” StartUp Mumbai Challenge is a key component of the Mumbai Festival’s mission to advance, change, and promote Mumbai as a centre for international innovation. A highlight of the event’s first edition, the “StartUp Mumbai Challenge”, targets businesses and concepts that prioritize eco-friendly living and environmental preservation. The event has received support from the United Nations, demonstrating the worldwide reach of the project. Participating startups would get the unique opportunity to receive mentorship from some of the brightest entrepreneurial minds and have the chance to get funding up to USD 500,000.
The panel of Mentors for the Startup Mumbai Challenge are some of the most inspirational leaders in business and innovation: Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group; Ronnie Screwvala, Chairperson and Co-Founder, upGrad; Vikas Agnihotri, Director, InMobi and GlobalBees, Kaustubh Dhavse, Joint Secretary and OSD to the Deputy Chief Minister- Govt of Maharashtra and Harsh Jain, CEO & Co-founder, Dream11 and Dream Sports.
On the occasion of the StartUp Mumbai Challenge, in partnership with the Bombay Stock Exchange, the panel of mentors along with other key dignitaries would ring the bell at the Bombay Stock Exchange in celebration of the StartUp movement in Mumbai.
With the United Nations India as the Festival’s partner, the Mumbai Festival has embraced the UNSDGs and Global Goals finding inspiration for the themes and execution of the various initiatives. The StartUp Mumbai Challenge has embraced the environment’s needs and are focused on businesses and business ideas that are planet friendly through the “Forever Planet” theme.
